The Edwin E. Coad Family
Edwin Ernest Coad, Sr.; bookkeeper and paymaster for Delaware, Lackawanna & Western RR (D. L. & W), born 1862, Plymouth, Devon, England. He immigrated from Plymouth England, to the US at age 12, circa 1874 together with his father John Sweett Coad (1837-1883) of Devonport, Devon County, England, and his mother Mary Jane Carne (1836-1908) of Berry Pomeroy, Devon County, England. In May 1892 he married Jane Owen Vaughan, in New York City. They had 10 children, three boys and seven girls. Eight of the children were born in Brooklyn, NYC. Boys: Vaughan (Sonny), William, Edwin - Girls: Adeline, Emily, Helen, Jane, Edith, Alice, Elizabeth



Edwin Ernest Coad, Jr.; NYC Transit Authority as a subway brakeman/conductor, lumber yard owner, born 1906 in Springfield, Union County, New Jersey. Married Melvernia, Sep 1946. Two children, Edwin E., III , step-daughter Carol M. Allen.

Melvernia had a daughter by a previous marriage, Carol Melvernia Allen. Edwin, Jr. was very fond of his stepdaughter and she of him, they had a very close father-daughter relationship.



Edwin Ernest Coad, III; a varied career as salesman, businessman/entrepreneur, born New York City, NY, NY. Married Cherie G., 1968. Three children, two girls, Dawn and Victoria and one boy, Edwin, IV.



Edwin Ernest Coad, IV; born Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Bartender/business owner. Married Melissa Anne. Two children, both girls. No male heirs to extend this Coad family line.
